Equality, Liberty and Justice For All

Today is the last day of Black History Month. I didn’t write much in regards to Black History because I don’t believe it can be or should be confined to a month. Much less the shortest month of the year 🙄. The contributions that Black people have made and continue to make in this world are innumerable. I am proud of who we are as a people. I love that we rise up each and every time. Through racism, sexism and homophobia. Though the world may not be for us, we still strive to make it a better place for everyone. And for our allies, continue to rock with us. So much is accomplished when we work together.

“We all require and want respect, man or woman, black or white. It’s our basic human right.” —Aretha Franklin
“I’m not concerned with your liking or disliking me… all I ask is that you respect me as a human being.” —Jackie Robinson
“Sometimes, I feel discriminated against, but it does not make me angry. It merely astonishes me. How can any deny themselves the pleasure of my company? It’s beyond me.” —Zora Neale Hurston
“I am America. I am the part you won’t recognize. But get used to me. Black, confident, cocky; my name, not yours; my religion, not yours; my goals, my own; get used to me.” —Muhammad Ali
“My humanity is bound up in yours, for we can only be human together.” —Desmond Tutu
“We should emphasize not Negro History, but the Negro in history. What we need is not a history of selected races or nations, but the history of the world void of national bias, race hate, and religious prejudice.” —Carter Woodson
“When we’re talking about diversity, it’s not a box to check. It is a reality that should be deeply felt and held and valued by all of us.” —Ava DuVernay

Be well and whole. Much love 🧡💚
